"Saint Luke Healthcare & Rehab Center"
Fortuna, California
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 36 weeks since beginning this years mission. So far we've
enjoyed the privilege of sharing the gospel in song with 136 Nursing Homes and
30 Churches. To God Be The Glory!
Monday September 1 st ~
Labor Day!
Yesterday a Brother at the "First Covenant Church" here in Eureka, California
told me of a spot in a parking lot where I could access the net (it being a holiday,
library's are closed).
So I was able to publish the update, then minister at the "Alder Bay" assisted
living facility. There were very few staff on duty. No senior staff at all. But lots of
residents hanging out with nothing to do. So we had a sweet, joyful time sharing
the love of Christ.
Tuesday September 2 nd ~
Sang at "Tiffany's Sequoia Manor" residential care home for a few folks. Got
invited to join them for lunch (Soup & Sandwich). May God Bless Them!
Then ministered over at the "Pacific Healthcare & Rehab Center". About halfway
through, their alarm system started shorting out. They had to park someone next
to the controls to hit a switch that would silence it for a few seconds, then it
would go off again. This went on the rest of the time I was singing.
So I simply sang a bit louder, folks listened a bit harder, and we made it through.
Afterwards one dear lady very seriously told me she would pray for me. Then as I
was packing up the guitar she gently wheeled over and again solemnly assured
me that she would be praying for me. Praise God!
Wednesday September 3 rd ~
Ministered at the "Eureka Healthcare & Rehab Center". The AD had me sing in the
cafeteria for a group of folks. Then she asked me to go to six different rooms of
bedridden residents where I'd sing a couple in each. Productive Day!
Back at the church for a spaghetti dinner I met a visiting pastor & wife who
embraced the ministry, inviting me to sing at their church this coming sunday.
Praise God!
Thursday September 4 th ~
Sang at "Ginger's Loving Care Home" for seven ladies. Shared a sandwich and
visit with them afterwards. Sweet!
In the evening, on the way back to the parking spot at the First Covenant Church,
I noticed a few vehicles at a church who's sign simply read "Hebrew Christians".
There was an open door, so I walked in.
Turns out there were seven men from different churches fixin' to have a
fellowship dinner. Got invited to join them in a lovely couple of hours of sharing
the love of Christ.
Friday September 5 th ~
Shortly after lunch I ministered at the "Seaview Healthcare & Rehab Center".
There was a relatively young lady in a wheelchair with a strap around the waist to
keep her from falling out. Throughout most of the hour she smiled, clapped and
looked on with an expression of childlike wonder on her face. Towards the end
she went to sleep, slumping forward with her forehead resting on the table. It was
heart rending.
Saturday September 6 th ~
Laundry Day.
One of the guy's from the men's dinner I met Thursday night is with a group that
ministers regularly at "Seaview". Having been invited to join them, I showed up
and played along and contributed a few songs and prayer.
Sunday September 7 th ~
Got one last shower at the First Covenant Church and said thank you to the
pastor. Then drove to the "Calvary Community Church" at Fields Landing where
I'd been invited to sing. They even had me and the ministry in the Bulletin.
What a loving group of Believers. There was a first time visitor brought by one of
the members, who is a resident at one of the facilities I ministered in this week.
Before the pastor (Dennis) could introduce us she said (with a big smile on her
face) "I Know You!"
This dear group of folks took up a generous Love Offering for our ministry. May
God Bless Them!
Drove south to Fortuna, California and ministered at the "Saint Luke Healthcare &
Rehab Center". Then continued further south to a Wal-Mart for the night.
And So Begins Another Week.
May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
Yours In Christ, Larry
