Nursing Home Music Ministry
Redwood Highway
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 35 weeks since beginning this years mission. So far we've
enjoyed the privilege of sharing the gospel in song with 129 Nursing Homes and
29 Churches. To God Be The Glory!
Monday August 25 th ~
Ministered in Brookings, Oregon at the "Good Samaritan Society". Lovely folks,
who treated me to dinner and some wonderful fellowship. I was able to visit with
residents and the assistant activity director (Linda) during the evening in their
comfortable activity room.
Tuesday August 26 th ~
Had breakfast at the "Good Sam", having been invited by Linda last night. Then
over to the "Chetco Inn". An old Hotel which has been converted into a
residential care facility. Turned out to be a rather DARK (spiritually speaking)
place.
As I began to sing, a resident loudly cussed and berated me. Staff did little to
deal with it. After a couple of songs I prayed for God's intervention. Almost
immediately the Fire Alarm went off. The staff seemed to know it was a false
alarm and got it shut off within a minute.
This happened three times over the next couple of minutes. I continued singing.
The nasty spirit/person quieted down. The Gospel prevailed. By the time I
finished, one lady was weeping joyful tears. Another was dancing. And several
request for favorite songs had been made.
Praise God! All in the name of Jesus!
Before I left a nurse who was making rounds asked if I'd go to her Adult Foster
Home in town. So after lunch I sang for three ladies at "Linda's Seaside Retreat".
Drove ten miles inland to a cheap ($5) camping area in the national forest for
some reading and a dip in the river.
Wednesday August 27 th ~
Took the day off working on some songs. Did some reading (Billy Grahams
Autobiography), hiking, and another dip in the river.
Thursday August 28 th ~
Crossed the Border into California and ministered at "Crescent City Health &
Rehab".
Friday August 29 th ~
Sang at the "Addie Meedom House" ALF here in Crescent City.
Saturday August 30 th ~
Continued south down the coast. No nursing homes, so got in a little hiking.
Sunday August 31 st ~
Felt like the first cold front of the year (in this part of the country) came in last
night. With wind and cooler temperatures.
Drove into Eureka, California to the "First Covenant Church". Good timing, they
were having a pot luck dinner. Obtained permission to park and shower at the
church while in the area. May God bless Them!
Got over to the "Granada Healthcare & Rehab Center" just as the Salvation
Army was finishing a service. Was able to minister for a large group already
assembled and warmed up. A wonderful time with lots of enthusiasm and
participation.

And So Begins Another Week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!

Yours In Christ, Larry
