Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 30 weeks since beginning this years mission. So far we've enjoyed
the privilege of sharing the gospel in song with 103 Nursing Homes and 23
Churches. To God Be The Glory!
Monday July 21 th ~
Here at Lynne & David's house in Elmira, Oregon I published the update. Also
recorded David playing some lead acoustic guitar on one of the songs.
Tuesday July 22 nd ~
Ministered at "Grandview Rehab" in Junction City for a lovely group of folks. Then
into Eugene where Volunteers in Medicine had arranged a free Eye Doctor visit.
Going the extra mile, this generous Doctor (Tim) gave me a complete exam,
including the one diabetics are concerned with. Ultimately giving me a clean bill of
health. Praise God! And May God Bless Him!
Our Brother & Sister in Christ (David & Lynne) have provided the ministry with a
250 GB External Hard Drive. Now all the programs, art work, and music files on the
laptop are backed up, with room to spare. May God Bless Them!
Wednesday July 23 rd ~
Laundry'd up, showered up, loaded up, and said my goodbyes to Lynne & David.
Drove into Eugene and ministered at the "Applegate Residential Care Facility" for a
sweet group of folks.
Then, on the way to Mike & Jean's I almost had a wreck. A young lady turned right
in front of me, never seeing me. I got stopped in time so I didn't hit her. However it
did rearrange the inside of the van a bit. Still, all's well that ends well.
Thursday July 24 th ~
Visited with a few folks on my way out of Eugene. Including Arlis and Barbara at
Applegate Residential Care, where I'd been invited to stop by for lunch.
Then drove to Florence on the Oregon coast and hooked up with the Open Bible
church group from Elmira having their four day Family Camp at Sutton Lake
campground.
Friday July 25 th ~
Ministered at the "Regency Florence" in town. Towards the end of one of the
songs the activity person (Joe) called over a bunch of his fellow staff members to
look at one of the gentlemen who was sleeping in a chair. When I asked what the
deal was, he told me this resident is very active and rarely sits still. Thus the
calming influence of the word of God in these songs.
Back at camp I got in a two mile hike and lots of fellowship. There's about 20 or so
church members at the group tent site, and about the same number in RV's
scattered around the campground.
In the evening I pulled out the guitar and we sang hymns and praises around the
campfire. Sweet!
Saturday July 26 th ~
Got in a nice hike around the campground.
Enjoyed a Feast at lunch time. Everyone (about 40) gathered at the group site for a
pot-luck.
Then I did some relaxing in someone's hammock, after overdoing the eating.
Spent the rest of the evening in fellowship around the campfire.
Sunday July 27 th ~
We held a morning worship service at the group site where I enjoyed the Honor of
leading some songs. After which, folks started packing up to leave.
I then drove to Walton, Oregon for the "Celebration of Life" (Funeral/Wake) for
Bubba. Whom I've written about in an earlier newsletter. I was given the privilege of
beginning the Celebration with a personal story about Bubba and leading the group
in singing "Amazing Grace".
Throughout the evening quite a few friends came to the Microphone telling stories
about Bubba. And a number of musicians played and sang songs he liked.
And So Begins Another Week.
May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
Yours In Christ, Larry
