Nursing Home Music Ministry
Rusty's Garage "Recording Studio"
Dear Brothers And Sisters In Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 35 weeks since beginning this years mission. So far
we've enjoyed the privilege of sharing the gospel in song with 142
Nursing Homes and 25 Churches. To God Be The Glory!
Monday August 27 th ~
Published the newsletter from Jean's office, then out to Veneta to sing
at the "Shady Rest Adult Foster Home". An older house with five
Alzheimer's patients.
Then over to Mike & Jean's for one last get-together before I leave the
area. Mike grilled up some hamburgers, several of us played some
songs with others singing along. I even played a match of ping pong.
Said my goodbyes with Hugs all around. Nice evening.
Tuesday August 28 th ~
Spent the day recording. Then attended evening worship services at the
Cowboy Church. They had a guest singer who, for six years now has
been traveling with his wife and son in a big diesel tour bus ministering
in song in churches. Encouraging.
Wednesday August 29 ~
Sang at the "Alpine Court" Memory Care in Eugene for a rather large
group of Alzheimer's patients. One little lady stood next to me just
about the whole time, singing along with most all the songs, in a
different language. It was good training for maintaining focus in the
midst of adversity.
Thursday August 30 th ~
Did a little work on the laptop, then spent some time pack'in up,
cleaning and organizing the van in preparation for leaving the area.
Friday August 31 st ~
Ministered at the "Gateway Gardens" ALF in Eugene where the AD had
saved me a lunch plate. M.G.B.H! Enjoyed a wonderful group of folks
singing along.
Drove east up into the mountains and parked for the night at a grocery
store in the town of sisters.
Saturday September 1 st ~
Hooked up with friend's from the Oregon Coast who'd invited me to
their family's Labor Day weekend campout at Lake Billy Chinook.
Along the way, I walked out on a memorial bridge three hundred feet
above the canyon below. A natural high.
Arrived at the Three Rivers Recreation Area just before noon. Rode a
4-wheeler, played some horseshoes and spent time at the lake watching
kid's swim. A walk in the evening.
Sunday September 2 nd ~
Attended worship services at the Fire Station with a nice little group of
locale residents and some guest. Enjoyed the Honor of contributing
some songs.
Later in the day, while down at the lakeside, had the opportunity to
witness to a fella. Then watched an organized Tug-a-war with the
crowd. Back at camp, spent some time on the deck watch'in the sunset.
And So Begins Another Week.
May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
Yours In Christ, Larry
