Nursing Home Music Ministry
"Fourth of July" Oregon
Dear Brothers And Sisters In Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 27 weeks since beginning this years ministry. So far we've had the
privilege of sharing the gospel in song with 122 Nursing Homes and 20 Churches.
To God Be The Glory!
Monday July 2 nd ~
Ministered at the "Eugene Rehab & Specialty Care' facility for a lovely little group of
residents. Then over to Jean's work place to publish the update.
Out to Rusty's for a two mile walk & shower, then over to Gary & Nora's (old
friends) for a sumptuous dinner.
Tuesday July 3 rd ~
Sang at the "Lone Oak" ALF here in Eugene. Started off slow, with one resident
(AD had to leave for Dr. appointment). However, during the first quarter hour folks
filtered in, ending up with ten or so residents.
Attended worship services at the "Cowboy Church" held in a livestock auction barn
just outside of Eugene. Then over to the Franklin Church for fireworks, cobbler &
ice-cream. Yum!
Wednesday July 4 th ~
Got invited to a rather large Fourth of July Christian family BBQ (13 brothers &
sisters if I understood correctly, although not all were present). Enjoyed the Honor
of singing quite a few Gospel Songs. These folks really love the Lord, they even
put together a sweet gift for the ministry. May God Bless Them!
Spent the evening at Mike & Jean's listening to, and playing music. A dear friend
(Todd) handed me a Thoughtful gift to help continue the work. May God Bless Him!
Thursday July 5 th ~
Did laundry at Mike & Jean's, then over to "Bayberry Commons" ALF. Wonderful
group clapp'in to the beat and making request for favorite songs. We had a Fun
time.
Friday July 6 th ~
Ministered at the "Gateway Gardens" ALF for a good size crowd. With the
opportunity to do an encore, I ended up singing twenty one songs for these lovely
folks. Also, they had just finished a BBQ celebration , so I got to leave with a
low-carb plate of hamburger patti, sausage and steak. Yum!
Saturday July 7 th ~
Drove to Tillamook, Oregon in preparation for ministering at a church, scheduled
several weeks ago. Although, only a hundred and fifty or so miles from Eugene,
with weekend traffic and winding coastal mountain roads, it took a fair part of the
day. Beautiful Scenic Drive!
Sunday July 8 th ~
Another First Experience. At the United Methodist Church here in Tillamook, I
enjoyed the Honor of contributing a twenty minute "Sermon in Song". Mostly about
our Hope for a Home in Glory with the Lord. These dear folks have had a number
of members pass on in the last month. Including one DURING Sunday morning
worship services. Was told that the message was timely and needed. To God Be
The Glory!
And So Begins Another Week.
May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
Yours In Christ, Larry
