Nursing Home Music Ministry
Dear Brothers And Sisters In Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 8 weeks since beginning this years ministry. So far I've enjoyed the
privilege of sharing the gospel in song with 31 Nursing Homes and 5 Churches. To God Be
The Glory!

WHAT A DAY!!! Here at Kenny & Laurie's (pastors of the First Baptist Church in Datil, N.M.) I
was able to publish the UPDATE from their home. Since they are teachers here in
Magdalena, N.M. they had the holiday off, and served up a late breakfast of T-Bone Steak &
Eggs. Yum!
NOW GET THIS!!! While sitting at the kitchen table visiting, they told me that over night they
had both, independently, come up with the Idea and desire to Donate their 1997 Dodge
Caravan to the Nursing Home Music Ministry!
I've sat here for awhile trying to think of words to express how I feel. Nothing seems
sufficient. All I can say is: May God Bless Them!!! And please pray for this generous family.
About 3:00 pm we all got in their Suburban and drove to Socorro, N.M. where we ministered
at the "Good Samaritan Village". Laurie sang with me and played some songs on her 12
string guitar, Kenny and the kids joined in visiting with the folks afterwards. One dear lady
(98 years old) could relate with Kenny & Laurie because she was a teacher for 39 years in a
one room school house.
Back at their home, I slept in the ministry's new van for the first time.
Tuesday February 20 th ~
Ministered at the "Magdalena Senior Center" for some friendly locale elders during lunch.
They treated me to a meal afterwards. May God Bless Them!
Later I rode with Kenny to Socorro for some supplies, then back to their place for another
sumptuous dinner.
Wednesday February 21 st ~
Kind of took the day off. Spent some time on the website publishing a new Tour Bus page
and sending out a Praise Report. After school I rode with Kenny to Socorro, then back for
another delicious dinner followed by singing praises to our Lord and prayer.
Thursday February 22 nd ~
Got cleaned up and organized. Stopped by the school to say a final goodbye to Kenny &
Laurie. On top of everything else, they gave me a 40 dollar check to fill up the gas tank.
What a family!
Back on the road headed east. I failed to find a nursing home. Parked for the night in the
Capitan Mountains beside an access road in the "Lincoln National Forest".
Friday February 23 rd ~
Drove into Roswell, New Mexico to the library, then over to the "Casa Maria Health Care
Center" where a large group was already gathered listening to one of the residents (98
years old) play the piano. I learned that she always ends her session by leading everyone in
"The Lords Prayer".
The staff had me jump in after she finished and sing for about 45 minutes. Then they treated
me to lunch. May God Bless Them!
Along about 3:00 pm I ministered over at the "Mission Arch Care Center" for another lovely
group of folks. Quite a few of this crowd were singing along with most all the songs.
Saturday February 24 th ~
Ministered at the "Sunset Villa Care" facility here in Roswell. Got to visiting with an
interesting gentleman who said his dad was Comanche and his mother was Mexican. Said
he prays day and night. Said when he was about 12 years old, having heard about Jesus,
and not knowing any better, he walked on water out to a boat. Said Jesus lifted him up to
where he was light as a feather.
A couple living here, the wife undergoing rehab after a surgery, asked me to come to their
room and pray with them. I did.
The Charge Nurse allowed me to use the facility's shower and treated me to lunch. May God
Bless Her!
Sunday February 25 th ~
Attended Worship Services at the "Trinity House of Praise". Good timing. They had a monthly
all day service scheduled. Dinner on the grounds after morning services, followed by a
"Community Gospel Sing" with a number of area churches participating. I enjoyed the
privilege of playing with the musicians and the honor of contributing a solo.
As we were all leaving along about 5:00 pm the pastor and his wife slipped me a little
something for the ministry. May God Bless Them!

And So Begins Another Week.

May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!

Yours In Christ, Larry
