Nursing Home Music Ministry
"Rick & Rebecca" Stanberry, Missouri
Dear Brothers And Sisters In Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 41 weeks since beginning this years mission. So
far we've enjoyed the privilege of sharing the gospel in song with
175 Nursing Homes and 28 Churches. To God Be The Glory!
Monday October 8 th ~
Witnessed the manifestation of a very nasty spirit today while
ministering at the "Great Bend Health & Rehab Center". In the
lobby, singing for about twelve residents with staff members
around, one particular lady began to get more and more agitated.
Several times while I was singing "When We All Get To Heaven"
she snarled, clinching her fist, shaking all over and barked out
nasty comments. Then as I went into "Amazing Grave" she went
Ballistic! Jumped out of her wheelchair screaming. As staff
converged to help, she fell against some other residents and I
heard a distinctive screech I've heard before.
Through all this I continued softly singing and praying in my
spirit. Don't fully understand all that happened, but know that it
was very Real, very Powerful, very Spiritual. After this, staff
began to bring folks in from other areas and as I finished asked
me to sing in their Alzheimer's Unit. Which I did.
Tuesday October 9 th ~
Ministered at the "Cherry Benevolence" Nursing Home here in
Great Bend, Kansas. Again, a very loud, aggressive, nasty spirit,
with red rimmed eyes, gaunt face (the works) was there making
nasty comments, dominating the group. So before I even started,
I prayed aloud asking the Lord to Bind any evil spirits present. In
The Name Of Jesus.
Sure enough, in a few minutes she quieted down and stayed that
way.
I've written down these two accounts to let you know some of the
negative things that go on to a greater or lesser degree quite
often.
Buy the same token, in today's Home a dear sweet lady handed
me a piece of paper and pen asking for an autograph. Positive
things happen as well, and I tend to concentrate on those.
Wednesday October 10 th ~
A dear Brother in Christ (Mark) arranged a shower and provided a
couple of lunches via the soup kitchen while I was in Great Bend.
May God Bless Him!
Angling northeast, I stopped in Oskaloosa, Kansas and sang at
the "Hickory Pointe" nursing home. Then attended mid-week
services at "Faith Bible Fellowship" in Atchison, Kansas.
Thursday October 11 th ~
Crossed the border into Missouri and ministered at the "Pine
View Manor" in the town of Stanberry. Hooked up with friends
(Rick & Rebecca) which I met the first year of this ministry while
they were living in Rawlins, Wyoming. We enjoyed some good
'Ole time fellowship and a sumptuous dinner Becky cooked up.
Yum!
Friday October 12 th ~
What Hospitality! Becky did a load of my laundry, served up
sausage & egg's for breakfast, and Rick even slipped me a twenty
for the ministry. May God Bless Them!
Saturday October 13 th ~
Drove through to southern Missouri and ministered at "Glenwood
Healthcare" in the town of Seymour. An endearing lady gave me a
Beautiful compliment. May God Bless Her!
Further down the road in MaComb, the pastor (Allen) of the
Baptist church arranged for me to park overnight, and use the
shower facilities. May God Bless Him! I then joined him and
others for the last night of a Revival at a Cowboy Church out in
the country.
Sunday October 14 th ~
Attended morning worship services at the "Corinth Baptist
Church" here in MaComb where I enjoyed the Honor of
contributing a couple of songs. Was treated to a meal at the
Pastor's house where his wife (Amy) served up a delicious
mashed potatoes & ham lunch. Yum!
Spent some hours working on the laptop over in the fellowship
hall, then during evening worship services, again had the Honor
of contributing some songs.
And So Begins Another Week.
May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
Yours In Christ, Larry
P.S. By the way. This week I was finally able to stop bandaging
the knee. Over three weeks of cleaning, inserting string gauze
into the cavity, and re-bandaging the wound twice a day, have
ended. Thank you for your prayers.
