Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 5 weeks since beginning this years mission. So far we've enjoyed the
privilege of sharing the gospel in song with 17 Nursing Homes and 3 Churches. To God
Be The Glory!
Monday February 1 st ~
Spent the whole day here in Yoakum, Texas visiting with my first cousin Ricci. We
grew up almost as twins, having been born in the same hospital three days apart. Ricci
has been through a number of near death experiences which have given him some deep
insight into spiritual matters.
Tuesday February 2 nd ~
Back on the road headed northeast, stopped at the "Monument Hill Nursing Center" in
La Grange, Texas. As I told the activity director what I do and asked to minister, her eye's
got wide and she exclaimed "I just got a cancellation call from the person due to lead this
afternoon's activity". Told her I love to hear these things. Makes me feel like my steps are
"Ordered by the Lord".
She gathered quiet a crowd and we had a sweet time Glorifying God.
Wednesday February 3 rd ~
Sang at the "Giddings Rehab Healthcare & Nursing Center". A relatively small, older
facility where the staff welcomed me with encouraging enthusiasm.
Thursday February 4 th ~
Ministered at "Riverwood Healthcare & Rehabilitation" in Madisonville, Texas. Similar
to last week, I had to stop singing at one point and speak to a large group of staff
members who were talking, laughing and joking so loudly that the residents couldn't
hear.
Sometimes you just have to say something. After some complaint they quieted down
and the rest of us were able to enjoy our time together.
Friday February 5 th ~
In Crockett, Texas I sang for a small group at the "Community Care Center of
Crockett". Then a bit further east I coughed up fourteen dollars to stay in the Mission
Tejas State Park. Got in a hike and much needed shower. Just after dark the manager of
the park dropped by with his guitar. We visited and jammed some.
Saturday February 6 th ~
Went for a long hike. Blood Sugar got too low. Had forgotten to take some sugar with
me. Made it back to the van. I now have a little understanding of the word Ravenous.
Proceeded to Devour a bowl of chili, with whole new potatoes, raising the blood sugar.
Felt much better. Got a shower for the road, then left the park and drove to
Nacogdoches, Texas.
Sunday February 7 th ~
Attended the early service at the "Holly Springs Baptist Church". Then down the road
to the "United Methodist Church" in Garrison, Texas.
And So Begins Another Week.
May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
Yours In Christ, Larry
