"Winnfield Nursing Home"
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings.
I hope and pray all is well with you and yours.
It has now been 6 weeks since beginning this years mission. So far we've enjoyed the
privilege of sharing the gospel in song with 21 Nursing Homes and 3 Churches. To God
Be The Glory!
Monday February 8 th ~
Ministered at the "Briarcliff Health Center" in Carthage, Texas. Then over to the public
library to Publish. Stopped at the Walmart on the way out of town about the time a
stormy weather system came in. So I stayed there for the night.
Tuesday February 9 th ~
Woke up to a bright, crisp, cold, sunshiny day.
Crossed the border into Louisiana and sang at the "DeSoto Retirement & Rehab Center"
in Mansfield.
Wednesday February 10 th ~
Further east, sang at the "Winnfield Nursing & Rehab Center".
Thursday February 11 th ~
Ministered at the "Autumn Leaves Healthcare Center" in Winnfield. They treated me to
lunch with the residents. Then I was able to get a shower at the "Assembly of God"
church.
Just outside of town I stayed in the "Gum Springs National Forest". Only three dollars a
night. Primitive (no electricity) campground.
Friday February 12 th ~
Snowed quiet a bit during the night. Slowly drove into town. Turned out the town was
without electricity till mid-morning. Got some propane for the heater, some water and
food, having made the decision to stay off the highways, letting the weather system pass
by.
On the way back out to the campground I was one of the first to come up on a three
vehicle wreck. Two in the ditch, one in the middle of the highway. About the time I
finished checking that no one was seriously hurt, two police cars came upon us a little
too fast. The one in front got stopped short of the accident, but his partner slammed into
the back of him. They finally came to rest a mere thirty feet short of the truck in the
middle of the road.
Although a little scary at the time, afterwards, with no one hurt, it was kind of funny.
Like the old movies with the Keystone Kops bumping into each other. Needless to say the
officer's were kind of embarrassed.
Saturday February 13 th ~
Day of Rest.
Sunday February 14 th ~
Attended the Assembly of God here in Winnfield. A couple invited me out to lunch.
Chinese Buffet. Yum!
Did an oil change on the van. Got a shower at the church. Attended evening service.
Then to Walmart for the night.
And So Begins Another Week.
May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
Yours In Christ, Larry
