A rare opportunity to spread out. "Grace Adult Care Home"
|
A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go
unpunished.
Proverbs 28:20
Monday January 16 th ~
Yesterday, one of the members' (Phil) from the New Beginnings church here in
Albuquerque, New Mexico helped to provide a motel room for last night. I was able to publish
from there, then got over to a nearby Care Home and sang for seven residents.
Swung by the church where the pastor (Richard) ended up providing (with a check made
out to Days Inn), most of the cost for a weeks' motel stay in this area, which has numerous
nursing homes nearby.
The motel manager first put me in a small-nice room around back which they use for
weekly guest. But when we found I couldn't access the wifi from there, they moved me into a
rather large suite. This thing is as big as some apartments I've had in the past, with a king
size bed, sitting area with couch and recliner, a desk work station, wet bar and large
television.
You can imagine my excitement, facing a week in this kind of space and luxury. Praise
God!
Tuesday January 17 th ~
Showed up at the "Albuquerque Heights Health & Rehab Center" just before a regularly
scheduled Praise & Worship time led by a group from the Nazarene church. They very
graciously gave me fifteen minutes at the beginning, and fifteen minutes at the end of their
service.
Wednesday January 18 th ~
Ministered at the "Grace Adult Care Home" for three residents and one staff member.
With space to spread out back at the motel, I started working on the income tax paper
work. Not that there's all that much, but it's kind of nice to have the use of a desk for
organizing receipts and using the calculator.
Attended mid-week services at New Beginnings.
Thursday January 19 th ~
Sang at the "Princeton Place" nursing home for a large group of over fifty residents
including about seven staff members. Then met Adam & Melissa and their lovely children
back over at yesterdays "Grave Adult Care Home". Adam had contacted me asking if I could
swing by for a picture one of the residents wanted with me. We all enjoyed some sweet time
of fellowship.
Friday January 20 th ~
Attended a going away luncheon at the church honoring a couple who have been here in
Albuquerque for about a year visiting family. They are fifth generation descendants of
Fletcher Christian (Mutiny on the Bounty) returning to their home on Pitcairn Island. They
told me about this island which is two miles long by one mile wide with about sixty full time
residents. Most of whom go to church, some faithfully, some not.
I then ministered over at the "Advanced Health & Rehab Center". A very expensive facility
geared almost entirely to the physical rehabilitation of the body, with seemingly very little
thought to the spiritual. Although, a few appeared to be encouraged during my time with
them.
Saturday January 21 st ~
Day of rest.
Sunday January 22 nd ~
Attended the New Beginnings church in the morning, then watched the NFL Playoffs back
at the motel. Enjoying this luxurious space for one more evening before getting back on the
road tomorrow.
And so begins another week.
May The Lord Our God
Guard, Guide And Direct You.
In The Name Of Jesus. Amen!
Yours In Christ, Larry
